The Sri Thulirkanthamman Temple, adjacent to the Raja Rajeshwari Temple on KBAR Road, Austin Town, Bangalore, boasts a 120-year-old history. Dedicated to Goddess Sri Thulirkanthamman, the deity's idol, once housed in the Madras Engineering Group during the British era, gained wartime significance when Indian soldiers carried it for good luck. Stories of its journey reached as far as Lahore and Peshawar.
However, neglect led to the temple's dilapidation by 1999. In response, the local community united, raising funds for renovations. In 2023, a trust was established to oversee maintenance, leading to the decision to reconstruct the temple.
Events
The temple organizes elaborate celebrations for annual pujas such as Dasara and Aadi, as well as weekly pujas. Noteworthy is a three-day event featuring free anna dhanam, serving meals to approximately 2000 people.
